Understanding Telnet Utility
Telnet is a part of the TCP/IP protocol suite and uses a virtual terminal protocol utility. This utility enables you to establish connection between remote devices to collect information and run programs and application. Initially, Telnet was designed to open terminal sessions from remote UNIX workstations to UNIX servers. Now, it is also used as a troubleshooting tool. In Windows platform, Telnet is a command-line utility that is used to test TCP connections.
