Other Storage Devices

In the beginning of the session, it’s been discussed how important the storage is for a computer to operate and perform computations to output results and so are the storage devices.

The accessed data, the files needed by the system for its operation, the data that needs to be saved — all is held by the storage media.

There are various types of storage media, each type differs in capacity, access time, and physical form.

In this section, we will discuss about optical drives and media capacity, magnetic Hard Disk Drives, Hot Swappable Drives and Solid State/Flash Drives. In addition to these devices, we will also discuss tape drive and RAID and its types.
