IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX)

IEEE 802.16 is also referred to as WiMAX, meaning Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access, or less commonly as Wireless MAN or the Air Interface Standard. This standard uses point-to-multi point architecture. The rate of data transmission in this standard is around 1 Gbps, and the frequency range is between 2 GHz and 11 GHz. The OFDM modulation scheme is used in IEEE’ 802.16 for generating signals. The 802.16 standard uses Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) and Data Encryption Standard (DES) as the encryption mechanism.
