Basic of Networking

A network is a group of interconnected computers sharing services and interacting with each other by means of shared communication link.

A network at least requires two or more individual computer to share data. These computers require a physical medium (known as transmission medium) to connect to each other. To transmit and receive data, the computers follow a set of rules (known as protocols). In brief, all networks must have:

  • Data to share
  • A Physical pathway (transmission medium)
  • Rules of communication (protocols)
