History of computer mechanical calculating era, mechanical era, Electronic era

Mechanical Era

It is a mechanical device that can be used as an aid for performing mathematical calculation. It was first used between 1000BC to 500 BC in ancient China Egypt etc. to count the cattle. The first Abacus was believed to be made with flat stone covered with sand or dust later on it was made from wood.

Electronic mechanical era

mechanical computer is built from mechanical components such as levers and gears, rather than electronic components. The most common examples are adding machines and mechanical counters, which use the turning of gears to increment output displays. More complex examples could carry out multiplication and division Friden used a moving head which paused at each column and even differential analysis. One model sold in the 1960s calculated square roots.

Mechanical computers can be either analog, using smooth mechanisms such as curved plates or slide rules for computations; or digital, which use gears.

Electronic computer era

Americans developed for the first time a fully electronic computer ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator and Computer), the first real computer. It was made in November 1945. He worked on the principle of electronic pipes and was primarily intended for the needs of the army. It occupied a space of 139 square meters; it had 19,000 thermionic tubes and diode and weighed about 30 tons.
